01 / QUICK SETUP

Ready for your first drive.

With the system installed, these four checks get your mirror ready to use.

Set up while parked. Adjust the mirror, use menus and review recordings only when safely stopped. Keep using your mirrors, direct observation and shoulder checks.
  1. Insert the memory card.

With the mirror powered off, insert a compatible high-endurance microSD card until it clicks into place. Choose Class 10 or faster, with a capacity supported by your exact model.

Stop recording and power off before removing the card.

  2. Power on and format.

Start the vehicle. The mirror powers on automatically and begins recording. Before your first drive, open Home → Quick Access → Format Card and confirm.

Formatting erases everything on the card, including locked clips. Back up existing files first.

  3. Set your local time.

Go to Home → Settings → System → Date / Time. Set the correct local date and time so you can find recordings by their timestamps.

Check it again after vehicle power has been disconnected.

  4. Check the view and recording.

Return to Driving Recorder. Confirm the rear image is level, clear and unobstructed. On dual-camera models, swipe left or right to check each view.

Check that recording is active before driving.

Where do I format the card?

Home → Quick Access → Format Card → Confirm. You can also find Format Card in System Settings.

Formatting permanently erases every video and photo, including locked files. Back up anything important first.

03 / VIEW & COMFORT

Make the view work for you.

Swipe to switch cameras.

On dual-camera models, swipe left or right on the live view to cycle through front, rear and split-screen views.

Before driving, check that the rear image is level and unobstructed.

One press for mirror mode.

Short-press the physical Power / Display button to turn the screen off or back on. With the display off, use the reflective mirror.

Ultra: on supported models, LC anti-glare helps reduce harsh rear headlight glare in reflective mirror mode.

Screen too bright at night?

Enable Auto Brightness, or turn it off and reduce brightness manually. You can also set an automatic screen-off timer in Settings → System → Auto Screen Off.

04 / RECORDINGS

Find it. Protect it. Save a copy.

Open Home → Playback. Choose a folder on the left, then select a file to watch.

Playback screen with Normal, Locked and Photos folders, file list and video preview
Playback controls let you watch clips, adjust volume, lock or unlock files, and delete files.
Normal
Everyday recordings. Older normal clips are replaced as the card fills.
Locked
Protected clips. Review and back them up regularly to keep storage available.
Photos
Still images taken with the Photo control on the live screen.

Something important happened?

  1. Stop somewhere safe. Then tap Lock to protect the current clip.
  2. Find the file in Playback. Check the Locked folder and nearby Normal clips for the footage you need.
  3. Back up the original file. Stop recording and power off before removing the card. Use a card reader to copy the file to your computer.

Locking protects a clip from normal loop recording; it is not a backup. Formatting still erases locked files, and deleted files cannot be recovered.

How do I lock or unlock an older clip?

Select the video in Playback and use the lock control. Locking a Normal video moves it to the Locked folder; unlocking returns it to Normal. Back up important files before deleting clips to free space.

05 / EVERYDAY SETTINGS

Small changes. A better daily drive.

Open Home → Settings. Swipe vertically in System Settings to see more options.

Change the length of each video clipSettings → Recording → Loop Recording

Choose 1, 3 or 5 minutes per clip. The mirror saves your journey in separate files instead of one long video.

This controls each clip's length, not the total amount of video your card holds. As the card fills, older normal recordings are replaced. Locked clips need to be reviewed separately.

Change the length of each video clip
Adjust brightness and screen-off timingSettings → System → Auto Brightness / Auto Screen Off

Auto Brightness uses the ambient light sensor to adjust the screen. For manual control, turn it off and use the brightness slider on the live screen.

Auto Screen Off lets you choose when the display turns off. A short press of the physical Power / Display button turns the screen off or back on.

Adjust brightness and screen-off timing
Set date, time and on-screen informationSettings → System → Date / Time; Settings → Watermark

Set the correct local date and time before recording. The mirror has no internal battery, so the clock may reset if vehicle power is disconnected.

Under Watermark, choose whether to display the date and time, recording icon and recording timer.

Set date, time and on-screen information
Check the camera image orientationSettings → Recording → Camera Image

Choose Original or Mirrored for the camera image. These options change the left-to-right orientation.

While parked, check the displayed scene against your surroundings so the view is familiar before you drive.

Control recording audio and system soundsLive screen → Microphone; Settings → System

The Microphone control determines whether sound is recorded with your video.

Button Sound, Voice Prompts and Alert Volume control the mirror's system sounds. These are separate from the microphone setting.

If your menus are not in English, open Settings → System → Language and choose English.

Look after the memory cardQuick Access → Format Card; or Settings → System → Format Card

Back up important files and format the card in the mirror periodically to maintain reliable recording. Formatting permanently erases normal videos, locked videos and photos.

If errors or damaged files keep returning after formatting, replace the card with a compatible high-endurance Class 10 or faster card.

Look after the memory card
Find your firmware versionQuick Access → Version; or Settings → System → Firmware Version

Open Version to see the software revision installed on your mirror. Include this information when contacting ClearDrive support about menus, card compatibility or a recurring issue.

Factory Reset is a separate System Settings option that restores settings to their factory defaults. Check your date, time and preferences again afterward.

06 / PARKING & PROTECTION

Know what gets protected.

While you are driving.

The G-sensor can detect a sudden impact and lock the current recording. You can also protect a clip yourself with the Lock control.

Find the option under Settings → Recording → Collision Lock Sensitivity.

While you are parked.

On compatible kits, Parking Monitor can respond to vibration or impact while the vehicle is parked. Choose High, Medium, Low or Off in Quick Access or System Settings.

Higher sensitivity can trigger more clips from doors, vibration or nearby activity.

Parking monitoring needs compatible constant power. It depends on your vehicle-specific harness, installation, available power, card space and firmware. It does not guarantee that every event will be recorded.
Parking Monitor sensitivity choices: High, Medium, Low and Off
Review locked clips regularly. Back up the ones you need and remove unneeded files.

07 / TROUBLESHOOTING

A quick fix starts here.

Park safely before checking the device. Choose the issue you are seeing.

The mirror cannot record or shows a card error.

Stop safely, stop recording and power the unit off before checking the microSD card. Reinsert it fully, then power on.

Back up any files you can still access before formatting the card in the mirror. If the error returns, replace it with a compatible high-endurance Class 10 or faster card.

The touchscreen is frozen or the mirror is unresponsive.

While safely parked, briefly press the Reset pinhole with a blunt pin less than 1 mm in diameter. Use light pressure; the unit restarts.

If freezing returns, back up important recordings, format the card in the device, or replace an unreliable card. Check that power connections are fully seated. Contact support if the issue continues.

Why is there no sound in my saved video?

First check the playback volume. If the microphone was off when the clip was recorded, that clip has no recorded audio. Turn Microphone On from the live screen before making new recordings.

Why did the date and time reset?

The mirror is powered by the vehicle and has no internal battery. Disconnecting vehicle power can reset its clock.

Reconnect power, then open Settings → System → Date / Time and set the local date and time again.

Why are there so many locked files?

Impact detection and parking-monitor sensitivity can protect extra clips after vibration or door movement. Higher sensitivity may trigger more often.

Review and back up important Locked files, then remove unneeded clips. Check the collision and parking sensitivity settings. Locked files may not be overwritten by normal loop recording.

Why is Parking Monitor not working?

The feature requires a compatible vehicle-specific kit and constant-power connection. It also depends on available vehicle power, card capacity and firmware.

Check that Parking Monitor is not set to Off, then contact your ClearDrive installer to confirm the harness and power setup. Do not modify the wiring to enable the feature.

Which microSD card should I use?

Choose a high-endurance microSD / TF card, Class 10 or faster, rated for the capacity supported by your exact mirror model and firmware. Capacity limits differ by version; confirm compatibility before using a larger card.

Insert it with the power off and format it in the device before first use. If you are unsure, send your model and firmware version to ClearDrive support.

A little care goes a long way.

Wipe the mirror and camera lenses with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Keep vents clear and check for loose mounts or cables. Avoid harsh cleaners and never spray liquid directly onto the system. The mirror itself is for interior use and must stay dry.
